The Worldcoin project has launched a new gas-free cryptocurrency wallet for verified human users. The wallet, called World App, runs on Android and iOS operating systems and currently operates on the Polygon network, allowing users to hold and transfer USDC, DAI, ETH, Worldcoin (WLD), and Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC). The wallet uses World ID, a protocol that distinguishes between humans and bots, allowing users to take advantage of feeless transactions after registering for a World ID by supplying a phone number or iris scan.
The project generates a zero-knowledge proof to verify the user is human, without revealing the data used to generate the proof. Third-party gas payments are also supported through account abstraction. The wallet offers onboarding and offboarding services through regulated crypto exchanges, Moonpay and Ramp, and built-in Uniswap integration for coin swaps. Users can also connect their phone numbers to the app to send and receive crypto through phone contacts.
The Worldcoin team has designed the wallet to be easy to use, catering to inexperienced crypto users. The project was co-founded by Sam Altman, who also co-founded OpenAI.
