The adoption of Ethereum layer-2 scaling platforms by major players in decentralized finance (DeFi) continues, with liquidity protocol Aave rolling out its products and features on Metis. Aave’s community recently approved a proposal to deploy on the zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) platform zkSync Era, which provides significant performance improvements to DeFi protocols.
While Aave has yet to deploy on zkSync Era, it has released version 3 of its protocol on Optimistic Rollup scaling protocol Metis. The latest version of Aave’s protocol is set to benefit both Metis and Aave users with DeFi borrowing and lending services, improved risk management, gas optimization, and cross-chain portals.
Aave is a popular DeFi protocol with over $5.5 billion in total value locked, and its v3 protocol has been deployed on various Ethereum layer-2 protocols. Other DeFi players like 1inch Network and Uniswap have also opted for zero-knowledge roll-up solutions to deploy their products.
