On April 13, Twitter partnered with Israeli cryptocurrency exchange eToro to provide Bitcoin price quotes on its social media platform. The price quotes are powered by TradingView, a charting platform, and are accompanied by a link to eToro where users can buy or sell Bitcoin. The Bitcoin price quotes are accessible via Twitter’s search tool. Currently, only BTC price quotes are available and not that of other major cryptocurrencies.
The Bitcoin price chart is accompanied by a disclaimer warning users of the risks of investing. Twitter’s move follows Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, which introduced Bitcoin price quotes for its users on April 10, but the quotes were taken down the next day and replaced with a warning message. It is yet to be seen if Twitter’s Bitcoin price quotes will face any similar opposition from regulators or other bodies.
