Zambia is conducting cryptocurrency regulation tests that simulate real-world use of crypto, with the aim of shaping crypto laws in the country. The tests, which are set to finish by June, are being carried out by Zambia’s central bank and securities regulator, and are intended to help the government form crypto regulations that strike a balance between innovation and safety.
Before cryptocurrencies can be introduced, Zambia’s Tech Minister, Felix Mutati, has emphasized the need for digital identities and other digital infrastructures to be implemented. Despite the country’s debt restructuring process being long delayed, Mutati has suggested that investment appetite in Zambia is increasing.
