A rare feat: Solo Bitcoin miner mines valid block and earns over $150K Mining a valid Bitcoin block solo is no easy feat. In fact, it’s only happened 270 times in the past 13 years, making it a cause for celebration when it does occur. Recently, a solo miner managed to mine the 780,112th block in the Bitcoin blockchain, earning a whopping 6.25 Bitcoin block reward, valued at over $150,000 at the time of writing.
What’s even more impressive is that the miner produced a valid hash after only two days of mining, a process that can typically take months for a solo miner. While solo mining has become increasingly difficult due to the rise in network hash rate and powerful mining machines, this miner’s success proves that persistence and dedication can still lead to rewards. The Solo CK mining pool, which this miner used, has been responsible for several solo-mined Bitcoin blocks in the past, demonstrating the potential for solo mining despite its challenges.
